New Saskatchewan Fall Colours for 2017

Duck Mountain Provincial Park

Each year, the colours of fall are different, which is why they are such a compelling subject for photography. Here is a sample of some new images we got this year close to home in Saskatchewan. So much depends on being in the right place at the right time. A highlight this year was being in the Duck Mountain Highlands just as the colours were changing, followed by a trip along the Woody Lake Road in the Porcupine Hills. We arrived in Prince Albert National Park, always a good bet for fall, near the end of the colour season. Many leaves were already gone, but those that remained were gloriously intense. The Thickwood Hill of northwest Saskatchewan are always special to us since this is where our farm is located. The colours this year were some of the best we’ve ever seen, so we explored some areas around the hills that we haven’t been to before and found some wonderful, hidden backroads. Some of these will be incorporated into a new travel guide we are working on, focusing on the best scenic driving routes in the province.
