UPDATE
The Winner is announced. Congratulations to Diane who will be receiving a copy of Saskatchewan’s Best Scenic Drives. The draw was made this morning using a random number generator. Thank you to all those who entered. Stay tuned – we’ll be announcing another book giveaway before long.
As we look forward to another summer season, we’re giving away a copy of our newly released book – Saskatchewan’s Best Scenic Drives, Revised Edition. What could be better than having your own free copy?
Saskatchewan is tailor-made for backroad exploring. We have more roads than any province in Canada—enough to circle the equator four times. Possibilities are mind-boggling, from drives through spectacular river valleys to sweeping natural grasslands, lake-studded boreal forest, wild badlands, some of Canada’s largest sand dunes, breathtaking viewpoints, little-known hideaways, and historic treasures. We not only show you these and many more awesome places, but also help you get there with directions and GPS coordinates. See our post describing the book.
Enter the contest for a chance to win a free copy, sent to you postage paid.
How to Enter
- Subscribe to photojourneys.ca (if you’re already subscribed, you’re halfway there). Sign up below in the footer, or on the sidebar.
- Go to the comments section below in this posting and tell us your favourite scenic drive in Saskatchewan. There is no right or wrong answer – all places indicated are equally valid entries. That’s all there is to it.
- One entry per person. Anyone making multiple entries will be disqualified.
- On May 17, we will draw from all valid entries and contact the winner by email for a Canadian mailing address to ship the book. In order to comply with Canadian contest regulations, the winner will be required to answer a skill-testing question. If the winner does not reply within 48 hours, we will make another draw. The winner’s first name only will be announced.
Contest Rules
- The contest is open to all photojourneys.ca subscribers who are Canadian residents at least 18 years of age and have a mailing address in Canada (because of different contest regulations in Quebec, this contest is not open to residents of Quebec).
- The prize is one copy of the book, Saskatchewan’s Best Scenic Drives, Revised Edition, with a value of $29.95. The book will be sent to the winner postage paid.
- No purchase is necessary to enter the contest.
- The draw will be based on valid entries received in the comments section of this posting between May 10 and May 16, 2023.
Chances of winning will depend on the number of valid entries received.
The contest is sponsored by Parkland Publishing.
If you don’t want to wait, here’s how you can order a copy of Saskatchewan’s Best Scenic Drives, Revised Edition from Parkland Publishing. Or you can pick up a copy at bookstores and gift shops in Saskatchewan.

Qu’Appelle valley. And also any country roads when the canola fields are blooming.
My favourite scenic drives in SK would cross The Hague ferry or the Petrofka bridge
My favourite scenic drive in Saskatchewan is when I’m heading North. Anywhere North as it leads me to my newfound home now. I love the Northern boreal at anytime of the year but most especially in Autumn when the colours of the tamarack are always surreal!
I love the drive around the area of Prince Albert National Park.
Favourite drive would be through the Narrow Hills area.
The boreal forest of the north, as well as Cypress hills
It’s good to hear from you again Elke.
The Gap Road between the Centre and West Blocks of Cypress Hills Provincial Park.
Narrow Hills Scenic Drive.
The drive through the Quappelle valley which is not only one of your longest but also one of the prettiest especially in autumn.

That’s our favourite season to drive the Qu’Appelle too. Thanks.
Saskatoon to Arborfield is one of my favorites!
For sure – we love the stretches of forest intermingled with farm land. Thanks.
The road from Maple Creek to the winery. Not sure if the winery is still open for the public but the drive to get there is awesome!
The Narrow Hills Scenic Drive but unfortunately it is the only one I know so this book will really allow me to explore the Saskatchewan more 🥰
That drive is amazing and among the top ones on our favourite list – we hope you find more to explore in the coming while.
Really enjoy heading into Northern Saskatchewan and into the Canadian Shield area. But I love travelling anywhere in Saskatchewan and love to find new adventures. Thank you for the opportunity to win your book.
You’re welcome – happy travels.
I love driving through the quapelle valley
There’s something new to see around every corner. Thanks.
Gem Lakes
The drive in the Cypress Hills is one of my top favourites. Breathtaking!
Cypress Hills area and hwy 13 – ghost town trail!!
Drive through the big Muddy, through the hills and valleys you never know what your going to see.
Cypress Hills and Grasslands
Grasslands NP, the space is amazingly open, the mix of grass and badlands, and the animals in the park make it really special. The old homesteads around the area are also interesting.
Love turning off the hey at Chamberlain and heading for Moose Jaw. When I reach the edge of the hill going down to Buffalo Pound, my heart and soul rejoice, going across the causeway up the other side, looking back to me it is beautiful
Yes, that’s a stunning portion of that highway for sure.
My favorite drive is through the Cypress Hills and visiting the conglomerate hills
I’ve always loved driving through the Meadow Lake Provincial Park
I love travelling the back roads in the NE part of the province. Thanks
Most scenic drive is the backroads along the bush line or Hwy 3 Shellbrook to Lloydminster if you can avoid the potholes!

Love the drive from Wroxton to Kamsack!
I love the drive by Avonlea in that area
Any back country road. Love finding the abandoned buildings among the prairie fields and imagining the stories and people that filled the spaces.
A favourite and beautiful drive is through Qu’Appelle Valley, especially in the fall on a lovely sunny day. Also love Cypress Hills.
My favourite drive is all along Highway 13 (the Ghost Town Trail) in South Saskatchewan, not only because of the scenery, but also because of the history along the entire stretch of highway.
Heading into Prince Albert National Park the back way(from the southwest) is stunning. There are pastures, rolling hills and beautiful forests. It’s generally quiet, still and breathtaking.
My favorite scenic drive is the main road in narrow hills provincial park, absolutely gorgeous!
My favorite drive is Fort Walsh.
Grasslands National Park is amazing.
Lol almost anywhere! I drive school bus and just found a summer road that I love!
Love driving through any and all Sask valleys. Also during canola and flax flowering season, I’m super happy driving anywhere.
I stumbled across your book and website while looking up a vacation in Saskatchewan with beautiful drives as we will be driving from Alberta ! I cannot locate your book to purchase online……. Fingers crossed for the prize for our trip planning to SK !
Scenic drives in Saskatchewan are everywhere. A half-day trip would be to Avonlea Badlands from Regina. The badlands are not visible until you are at the very edge and just open up below you.
Many other favorites are the East and West Grassland National Parks, Big Muddy, and the Great Sand Hills south of Sceptre. Scenic and favorite canoe trips I have done are the Fond du Lac River and Clearwater River.
You have certainly seen a great deal of the province and captured its beauty in your amazing photos.
