Hoi An, Vietnam is an ancient Asian trading centre, so important and well preserved that is was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The city is known for lantern making, and each month during full moon it holds a Lantern Festival.
Some of our travel highlights this year included Vietnam, Venice, Mexico, and Quebec. The most travelling we did, however, was to various places in our home province of Saskatchewan. But since our last posting was specifically on Saskatchewan, this time we’ll look at a few spots outside the province.
Hoi An’s most iconic feature is the Japanese Bridge, dating to the 18th century. Attractive anytime, it is especially photogenic lit up at night.

A busy intersection in central Saigon. While Vietnam abounds in beautiful places, this is part of its reality as well. In fact, whenever anyone mentions Vietnam, the first image it invokes for us is motor bikes – lots of them.
